Intro or summary ... not sure...

Talking to people who've worked in other countries, this experience was different. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere and not a place where anyone would want to visit even in a not post disaster conditions. This is a place without sanitation or basic safety such as police force or governmental control. From what I understand, the government is corrupt and is in for themselves. Lots of monies that were donated to Haiti for the disaster relief went to cover personal expenses of the governmental officials. Monies were stolen and taken for personal use. The city Port eu Prince is under ruins and there is very little done to fix it. There is no electricity, no water, no basic sanitation, bodies are still under collapsed buildings.

We worked under very rough conditions providing acute medical care to people we could barely communicate with. We all were put under enormous amount of stress and challenge. We had to perform in roles that we haven't performed before. Nurses were put in departments they never worked before, during different shifts. Shifts were very long and draining. Doctors had to perform procedures that they've never done before or deal with medical problems that they only learned about in textbooks. We all did an amazing job doing medical care under enormous pressure.
